    Leontine Hass

    Leontine Hass (BA, Melb. Uni, BMus. Kings College London, Dip. RAM) is the Artistic Director/Founder of the Associated Studios Group. ASG includes The Advanced Performers Studio, Designers Studio, Pre-Production Studio and The Word and Music Company. In her capacity as Artistic Director of The Word and Music Company, Leontine facilitates and devises the development of new writing in plays, musical theatre and opera. Leontine is producing two shows in 2011: 'Londonstani' (Book by Gautam Malkani, Music by Rishi Rich) and 'I'm a rainbow too',' (Book by Benjamin Zephanaia and Clint Dyer).

    Leontine trained as a singer at the Victorian College of the Arts and the Royal Academy of Music. She studied classical singing under Dame Joan Hammond and subsequently trained in Musical Theatre. As a singer she has given numerous recitals and cabarets. Her acting work in theatre, film and television includes series for Channel 4 and ITV. She also played the lead-role in a Chanel 4 sitcom called 'Extra, comprising 13 episodes, which won a Bafta and an RTS award.

    As a vocal coach, Leontine teaches workshops and lectures internationally. She has taught at the GSA Conservatoire, the Oxford School of Drama and Mountview. She has given numerous lectures/workshops on voice and performance, including at the Old Bailey, to an audience of High Court judges and QCs, at La Salle in Singapore and at the VCA, Melbourne. Leontine is vocal consultant to various music management companies and has worked for the music producer Rishi Rich, which resulted in her being featured on the 'Pineapple' programme together with one of her students, who played Michael Jackson in the West End. She is a major contributor to an Oxford University Press book for singers by Prof Anthony Jahn, consultant laryngologist to The Metropolitan Opera and The Juilliard School.

    Leontine has a busy private practice comprising professional singers and recording artists. She also teaches Opera Singers, who tend to come to her if they are in vocal trouble. Her students include performers in leads and ensemble/chorus in Tell me on a Sunday, Wicked,Thriller-Live, Oliver, Carousel, Parade, The Lion King, Caroline or Change, Been So Long, Phantom, Witches of Eastwick, Nine, The Wizard of Oz, Ragtime, Sweeney Todd, Cats, Sister Act, We Will Rock You, Footloose, The Sound of Music, Tarzan, Lend me a Tenor, Jersey Boys, ENO, Welsh National Opera and ROH amongst others.Recently students have won the Berlin Opera prize and 2nd prize in the Lotte Lenya competition, NYC.Leontine is currently vocal consultant for a new show at the Union Theatre, 'Bernarda Alba'.
